The exterior lighting strategy for Manipal University’s Admin Block in Bengaluru is thoughtfully crafted to enhance the architectural expression of

the building, designed by PurpleInk Studio. The facade features a rhythmic arrangement of alternating protruding fins across multiple levels,

offering a strong visual language that called for a precise and dynamic lighting response.

To emphasize the directional interplay of these fins, asymmetric linear wall grazers with high IP and IK ratings were strategically integrated along the

facade. These luminaires deliver controlled illumination that sculpts the vertical surfaces, highlighting the depth, texture, and orientation of the

architectural elements without visual clutter.

A dynamic lighting scheme was employed to activate the facade during evening hours, introducing subtle movement and variation that reflects the

progressive academic ethos of the university. The result is a bold and cohesive nighttime identity that amplifies the building’s contemporary design

while ensuring performance and durability in Bengaluru’s urban environment.
